Recognising that coffee – like craft beer – is undergoing a modern-day revolution, BrewDog is bringing speciality coffee to all its UK BrewDog bars. Attitudes are changing as people discover the vast array of different flavours, regions and growers that are out there. Coffee has provenance, relies on the skill of artisanal roasters, and embraces the creativity of those who serve it.
Natural synergy
Brewers feel a natural synergy with coffee – after all, the roasting process barley undergoes to become malt is essentially the same as that which gives raw coffee beans their flavour; plus picking out expressions of different beans is similar to that from differing hops. Both can also be served in a myriad of different ways, to best suit the flavour profile. BrewDog wants to spread the message about how good coffee can be, as much as craft beer.
Every UK BrewDog bar is now selling speciality coffee
Made either by slow-brew Aeropress, or from hand-made espresso machines constructed by the world-renowned Florentine manufacturers La Marzocco.
The beans are supplied by the team at Dear Green in Glasgow with a bespoke BrewDog house blend you can find nowhere else, created to give a full, rich espresso with an intensity of fruit and caramel.
The BrewDog blend has been curated in partnership with Dear Green – and as such it is as unique and crafted as BrewDog beers, and with as much attention devoted to sourcing, serving and embracing artisanal coffee as to the beers.
At BrewDog bars, customers can enjoy the coffee and free superfast Wi-Fi during the day, and then have a beer once the work has been completed, or the meeting adjourned. And – the skilled bar staff are there to help, having undergone specialist training to bring out their inner barista!
