The DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre has announced the appointment of Morten Rengtved as Head Chef at its highly popular Bread Street Brasserie.
Danish-born Morten brings a wealth of experience to the restaurant, having previously worked at the King’s Manor Hotel in Portobello and the Dalmahoy Marriott Hotel & Country Club.
Morten also took part in the hit BBC show Masterchef, reaching the quarter finals of the hotly contested competition in 2012.
He has already started work on updating the menu at the hotel, managed by Redefine|BDL Hotels: he describes the menu as modern British with a unique twist, and says his favourite dish on the menu is cock-a-leekie terrine.
He enjoys taking humble produce and using it to create something unique, special and surprising. He also loves to make classic dishes different by putting his own twist on his recipes.
Ronald Little, General Manager at DoubleTree by Hilton Edinburgh City Centre, said: “We’re all excited to welcome Morten to the team. The Bread Street Brasserie has built up an impressive reputation and I am certain that Morten’s passion and drive will help cement the restaurant’s popularity. Morten is a highly motivated and vastly experienced chef and I am in no doubt that he will prove to be a perfect fit within the hotel’s dedicated team.”
