Jockey Club Catering has appointed Lee Miller as its new executive head chef at Aintree Racecourse. Miller brings with him a wealth of culinary experience, having joined the Jockey Club Catering team at Aintree Racecourse from ACC Liverpool (Liverpool Echo Arena), where he was also executive head chef. In his new position, Lee will oversee the kitchen operations, leading a team of up to 200 chefs and apprentice chefs, ensuring all race day catering is delivered to the exacting standards set at Aintree Racecourse.
Lee began his career at the Kings Hotel in the Cotswolds where he worked as commis chef before travelling to Switzerland to further his culinary experience. More recently, Lee worked as executive head chef for the Lindley Group at Manchester City FC with responsibility for all matchday and non matchday catering.
Having worked in different kitchens across the UK, Lee has developed a style for modern, local cuisine and will be responsible for creating menus for both Aintree Racecourses hospitality offerings – the Hall of Fame and Executive Box Packages – which will be available for the racecourse’s major event of the season, The Crabbie’s Grand National Festival.
Stephen Reed, general manager northwest region for Jockey Club Catering, said of the appointment: “We’re delighted to have Lee with us at Aintree Racecourse, particularly having come from such a strong, experienced background. Both his style and passion for catering fits perfectly with the direction we’re taking our food and drink offering at the racecourse, and we look forward to Lee bringing his own flair to the races.”
Jockey Club Catering is a venture partnership between Jockey Club Racecourses, the UK’s leading racecourse and venues group, and Compass Group UK & Ireland, to provide top quality catering, hospitality and service at 15 racecourses nationwide.
