Pancras Square, King’s Cross between St. Pancras International and Central St. Martins, this flourishing neighbourhood is about to welcome its first destination bar and restaurant. No longer solely the precinct of steely-faced commuters and doe-eyed tourists, King’s Cross has blossomed into a bona fide drinking and dining hub, with Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross bringing late night cocktail culture and a cool vibe to the area.
It features two beautiful bars on the ground and lower ground floors, an elegant dining room with open kitchen alongside a deli, lounge, two unique ‘kitchen pods’, private dining room and outdoor terrace. Offering a brand new grill concept, dialled-up cocktail offering, DJs spinning until the early hours and artisan coffee to-go, Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross can be both the first stop and the end destination.
Cocktail Connection
Sweep down the dramatic emerald green staircase and perch at the marble-topped central bar or enjoy table service from a leather clad booth whilst sipping cocktails. Must-tries include The Doctor’s Order, a blend of Kamm & Sons, mescal, honey water, ginger and lemon; and the Stateside Sour featuring Amaretto, Bulleit Rye, egg white, lemon and maple syrup whilst the sharing shakers and punchbowls encourage good times.
A globe-travelling wine list brings together bottles from some of the best vineyards in the world. Beers on tap include Woodford’s Wherry, Guinness, Kozel and Peroni whilst craft brews like East London Brewery IPA, Islington Steam Lager and Chelsea Blonde fill the fridges. Sink and clink drinks as regular DJs spin ‘til late, Thursday to Saturday, or keep it casual upstairs at a second bar flanked by high tables.
Sear & Sizzle
Head Chef David Green (Soho House Group) has created a menu focused around small plates, the grill and larger comfort dishes. Signature dishes, expertly cooked on a charcoal-fired robata, include octopus with pimento aioli, Dover sole on the bone, baby chicken with gremolata, lamb chops with mint sauce and blackened cauliflower with almonds, capers and brown butter.
Small plates feature ham croquettes, steak tartare, crab fritters and peppered goat’s cheese with watermelon whilst larger mains come in the form of burgers and baps, superfood salads and classics like bangers and mash, lobster mac & cheese and short rib mushroom pot pie.
Always in the kitchen at parties
Two bookable open-plan ‘kitchen pods’ are the perfect entertaining opportunity, exuding contemporary domestic glamour with chrome and marble topped moveable islands to sit or stand at as you share nibbles, toast tipples and get lost in conversation with friends, clients or party guests. Unique and exceptionally adaptable, use the space as you see fit, with a dedicated mixologist muddling to-order or creative canapés served at your request.
Private Dining Room
For convivial sit-down celebrations, boardroom discussions or professional presentations, book the private dining room. Entirely secluded, break bread around the elegant oval-shaped table seating 14 or remove the table to cater for a group of up to 35 colleagues sat theatre-style facing the sliding mirrored panels cleverly disguising a 75” flat-screen television. Fully air-conditioned with free-wifi and bespoke food and drink packages – business meetings have truly never looked better.
Lounge while you work
Open from 7:30am daily, a fully connected lounge is ideal for working remotely. A relaxed and comfortable space, backed by book-lined shelves and bathed in natural light, freelancers can stop by, plug in and get stuff done, fuelled by gourmet coffees and fresh energy-supplying smoothies.
