Sky and Molson Coors have launched UpLift Media, a new way to promote live sport, drinks and events in pubs. Using cutting-edge digital signage technology, UpLift Media provides an industry-leading way for pubs and bars to drive customer footfall, loyalty and spend at no cost to them, while also receiving a monthly cash payment.
The initial rollout of UpLift Media is underway, with 2000 high-spec HD screens, launching into 1000 selected pubs to create the largest network of digital advertising screens in the UK pub industry.
Benefits to landlords
In return for having the screens in their venue, landlords will benefit from:
- Between £600 and £1,200 per year fixed monthly payment from Sky and Molson Coors
- The ability to advertise their own offers and events as well as third party advertising
- Promoting upcoming live Sky Sports fixtures
- Targeted Molson Coors advertising to help sell more of the products they stock
David Rey, Managing Director of Sky Business, commented:
“We’re excited to launch UpLift Media with Molson Coors, which sees a new way to promote live Sky Sports fixtures, drinks and events in pubs to help licensees drive customer footfall, loyalty and spend. There’s no cost to the landlord and they receive a monthly cash payment – great news all round for pubs.”
Sean Ferguson, Customer Marketing Manager – Digital and Loyalty, Molson Coors UK, commented:
“We know that the ability to effectively communicate in a pub or bar environment is extremely important for our customers. However, from a venue’s perspective, staying on top of all consumer communication can be time-consuming. We believe that through the development of UpLift Media, and the extension of our long-term partnership with Sky, there is a great opportunity to generate excitement and unlock customer value in the on-trade.”
How it works
- Landlords can use the screens for free, which are placed behind the bar and in one other high-footfall area. Initially, UpLift Media will display up to 12 different screen rotations over a two-minute time slot, including a mix of still and animated content to bring products and brands to life.
- The fixed payment amount received is based on the size of the pub and whether they are a Sky and Molson Coors customer*. Licensees can promote their own events and offers on the digital screens – an eye-catching way to help increase customer loyalty and additional spend. They can also choose which sports and fixtures to promote, or let Sky manage this automatically.
- To choose what fixtures they want to show, landlords simply log onto Sky’s ‘My Sky Sports’ website to access their profile. Using the weekly planner within their profile, they can add or remove the fixtures they want to advertise on the digital screens and on their Sky Sports Pub Finder listing, which pub goers visit millions of times each year to find their local Sky Sports venue.
- Other features include live count-downs, and access to breaking news. Around key games, fixture ads will help landlords drive excitement and anticipation by counting down the final hour to kick off, while customers can also be kept up to date with all the latest breaking news in the world of sport as part of a live sports news feed on the screens.
Participating outlets will be regularly contacted to understand what products they sell and their customer demographic to ensure any brands or services displayed on the screens are relevant.
