Britain’s contribution to culinary excellence recognised

May 30, 2015

The Chaîne des Rôtisseurs has chosen the UK to host the International Finals of the annual Young Chef of the Year Competition.

The prestigious event, which attracts applications from the stars of the future, is to be held at The Manchester College in 2016, following regional and national Heats stages in over two dozen countries around the world.

Hosted by countries recognised for their culinary contribution

Past Young Professionals International Finals have been held in South Africa, the US, Amsterdam and Russia.  The honour of hosting is given to countries recognised as having made a major contribution to the culinary world.

Liz Peters, Assistant Principal at The Manchester College, commented: “The UK has achieved a well-deserved reputation for its food; we have produced some of the world’s most celebrated chefs and our restaurants often top the ‘best’ lists.

“It is only fitting therefore that the International Young Chefs Competition comes to Britain, where the crème de la crème of the next generation will battle it out for the title.”

Philip Evins, Bailli Delegue, added: “The training and development of future talent is of paramount importance to the industry as w hole, if it wants to maintain its standing in the international gastronomic world stage.  “The Chaîne UK recognise this and has committed to the development of its young members for many years now.  We are delighted that our work and the achievement of our members has been recognised by our global family.  We are sure that all those competing in 2016 will receive a warm welcome to Britain.”

The Chaîne International Competition will be held in September 2016 at The Manchester College, a leading training facility for hospitality and catering students.
