As the deadline to enter the 2015 British Pie Awards nears ever closer, the team behind the awards is making one last call for entries.
The world-renowned British Pie Awards are held in Melton Mowbray and take place on April 22. The deadline to enter this year’s awards is April 3.
With 20 classes to enter, there is a category suitable for pie producers of all shapes and sizes. This year, the Speciality Pie Class is sponsored by Howes Percival and the theme is ‘Bride’s Pie’ – a nod back to the days before the traditional cake we know today was wedding custom.
The Speciality Pie Class is a chance for pie producers to showcase their creative side. Whether it’s an individual or tiered pie, just one flavour or a variety, sweet, savoury, or even a little bit of both, the class allows bakers to get experimental. The ‘Bride’s Pie’ is all about producing a showstopper, allowing more decoration and freedom to choose filling and pastry type.
All pies in the Speciality Pie Class are judged to the same exacting standards set by the British Pie Awards; however, any pies entered into this class don’t have to be commercially available.
