The Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill officially re-opened its doors on 16 March, and is offering guests a series of special promotions to mark the occasion.
“We are thrilled to be back up and running and are looking forward to once again welcoming guests to our hotel in the heart of this wonderful city,” said Michael Gray, general manager.
The first visitors to arrive at the hotel upon its re-opening were members of the 2015 Churchill Commemorative Team, who included Sir Winston Churchill’s relatives Randolph Churchill, Celia Sandys and Emma Soames.
The “Churchill Commemorative” package
One of the hotel’s promotions is inspired by the great leader, after whom the hotel is named. The “Churchill Commemorative” package runs throughout 2015 and includes:
- Two nights in luxurious accommodation with daily English breakfast.
- A special commemorative £20 Sir Winston Churchill Fine Silver Coin
- Two newly created “Never Give In” cocktails at The Churchill Bar & Terrace.
- A bottle of Pol Roger champagne and a chocolate cigar, recalling Churchill’s favourite pastimes. The Churchill Bar & Terrace will also extend a 10% discount on its extensive selection of cigars.
- Tickets to the Churchill War Rooms: the original Cabinet War Rooms and the wartime bunker that sheltered Churchill and his government during the Blitz.
- Tickets to Blenheim Palace, Park and Gardens in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. This World Heritage Site is where Winston Churchill was born, and where he proposed to Clementine.
- A copy of the book “All Will Be Well: Good Advice from Winston Churchill”.
- A third weekend night for just £75, to celebrate 2015 as the special 75th Anniversary of Sir Winston Churchill becoming Prime Minister and of the Battle of Britain.
Other promotions concurrently running include:
- Guests staying at the hotel or dining at The Montagu or The Churchill Bar & Terrace will receive a special “Words of Winston” fortune cookie, exclusively created by the hotel. Each fortune cookie contains one of Sir Winston Churchill’s famous quotes.
- The hotel reception has become home to a unique piece of art based on one of Churchill’s original Henry Poole & Co suit patterns by award-winning artist Hormazd Narielwalla. This specially commissioned piece is displayed alongside the hotel’s current “Go Figure” Saatchi Gallery exhibition and a display of Turnbull & Asser limited edition ‘Dandy’ cases that are lined with the signature Churchill spot print and red braces.
- This May, The Montagu will introduce a special “Tummy Time” menu. Sir Winston Churchill is reputed to have said that he took meals when he was hungry, not when the clock told him — what he called “tummy time”. The menu will include his favourite treats, including mini roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, as well as Stilton with crackers.
Renovation
Later this year, Hyatt Regency® London – The Churchill will undergo a multimillion-pound renovation that will encompass many of the hotel’s guestrooms and suites. International interior designer DeSallesFlint will redesign each room using only the most luxurious fabrics and finishes. The result will be spaces that offer an elegant, sophisticated and contemporary ambience, with each renovated room featuring advanced technology and walk-in jet showers.
