Measuring the length of a double-decker bus, chefs in Leicester have been getting into the Christmas spirit by creating what is thought to be Britain’s longest chocolate Yule log.
A team of six chefs from Red Hot World Buffet have been preparing the 30-foot record-breaking desert for two weeks. A staggering 950 eggs, 155kg of flour, 210kg of sugar, 316 packets of butter and 230kg of chocolate, were all mixed together to create the unique dessert.
“The chefs have done a great job working around the clock, it’s a fantastic effort and really shows off the team’s dessert-making skills,” commented Mellissa Bignell, general manager of Red Hot World Buffet.“We wanted to get everyone geared up for Christmas. Putting the cake on display and handing it out to people who are shopping and on their lunch-breaks will hopefully get everyone feeling festive.”
Celebrating Christmas
Mellissa continued: “December is a busy time for everyone at Red Hot World Buffet, with tens of thousands of people joining us for work parties and Christmas lunches we wanted to celebrate how big this time of year is by creating the record breaking Yule log. There is a special festive dinner menu that runs alongside the existing buffet, and every venue is filling up with bookings on Christmas Day.”
Red Hot World Buffet features a range of live cooking stations, serving a range of international cuisine including sushi, traditional English Carvery, fish and chips, south Indian, pizza and a world meats grill.
Red Hot World Buffet has seven venues across the country, including Cardiff, Leeds, Leicester, Liverpool, Manchester, Milton Keynes and Nottingham.
