This year’s ALMR Operations Managers Awards entry deadline is just six weeks away and the Awards, now in their 14th year, continue to attract support from right across the industry.
Nick Bish, Awards Spokesman, commented: “We have been absolutely delighted with the number of companies that have nominated members of their operations team.
“Every year we are gratified to see companies that have previously never engaged with the Awards, put forward one or more of their talented middle managers.
“We often hear companies say how good their ops managers are, and these Awards are the opportunity to identify and develop that talent in a truly competitive environment. We look forward to having yet another successful competition which showcases the brightest and best individuals and their companies.”
The ALMR is now encouraging all companies seeking to identify their own talent to nominate by logging on to www.almropsawards.org.uk or by calling the ALMR on 020 8579 2080.
The competition is split into two categories – one for operations managers in the leased estate and one for area managers typically in a managed estate –and has earned its reputation as a rigorous benchmark of excellence. After the entry papers have been judged, the top 20 are then assessed on a routine business day in the field by one of the ALMR mentor judges, and then they attend the 3-day Ops MasterClass, providing invaluable business skills on strategy, leadership approaches and personal development.
The two winners, one for managed estate and for leased will be announced at the ALMR Christmas Luncheon on Thursday 19 December.
ALMR
ALMR is the only national trade body dedicated solely to representing the needs and concerns of the modern licensed hospitality sector. It has 130 retailer member companies operating just over 13,000 outlets, employing 325,000 staff. These outlets are primarily pubs and bars but also include casual dining outlets, licensed accommodation providers and nightclubs. They include some of the largest high street operators such as Spirit, Stonegate and Mitchells & Butlers, with such well-known branded outlets as All Bar One, Slug & Lettuce and Flaming Grill. Other members include La Tasca, Bramwell Pub Company, TGI Fridays and many independents. Two-thirds of members are smaller independent companies operating 50 outlets or fewer, predominantly in local suburban communities. ALMR represent the interests of tied and untied lessees and managed pub operators.
