The equipment that enabled Imperial College London to scoop the Sustainable FM Award in late 2010 for “Most Sustainable Public Sector Organisation – Education,” will be on display at Hospitality 2011.
Over the past 2 years, Imperial College’s Soft Services team has introduced a diverse range of waste management initiatives, with the ultimate goal of setting the benchmark for the Education sector.
One of the most recent of these has been the installation of IMC’s “Compod”, a mobile building that is supplied fully equipped with everything required with which to convert the South Kensington Campus’s annual 50 plus tonnes of food waste into a high quality compost, which can then be used on the Campus grounds.
Director of Facilities Management, Nick Roalfe, was delighted with the Award: “We have worked tirelessly to improve our recycling rate by more than 100% over the past 3 years and this highly regarded Award is the perfect recognition of our efforts.”
