Best-selling cookery writer, chef and television celebrity, Sophie Grigson, will open the inaugural Oxford Castle Food & Wine Festival taking place from Friday 17th – Sunday 19th September 2010.
Aiming to encourage people to take time to enjoy and appreciate good food, wine, and conversation, Oxford Castle is calling out for budding chefs to put their pinnies on and enter their homemade jams, cheese scones or chutney in a traditional summer-fete inspired cooking contest. Entries will be judged in three categories (under 10 years of age, 11-18 year olds and adults) by a surprise celebrity chef who is yet to be announced.
The three-day festival which is FREE to attend will include a rich mix of live cooking demonstrations, children’s pasta and sausage making classes with local food producers and food education officers, as well as a food and wine market providing a wide range of tasty, high quality produce.
Commenting on the first Oxford Castle Food & Wine Festival, General Manager Jean-Pierre Morilleau said: “With food as the key ingredient in Oxford Castle’s recipe to success it makes for the perfect place to hold an annual Food and Wine Festival. We hope to start as we mean to go on with appreciation and consideration of good food and wine at the heart of our enjoyment.”
