Following the successful launch of Richmond Road in January, Patty & Bun will be collaborating with some of the world’s most exciting chefs for a unique series of one-off events, where guest chefs will be taking over the kitchen to showcase their skills Family Style.
What to expect? Set Menu. No choices. No faff.
First up is Michelin-starred Swede Niklas Ekstedt, who will be hosting two special nights on 15th and 16th May. At Ekstedt, his eponymous Stockholm restaurant opened in 2011, Niklas has taken the radical step of banishing gas and electric from his cooking, instead making use of a fire pit, a wood fired oven and a wood stove.
At Family Style Niklas promises to bring something totally new to P&B Richmond Road showcasing his culinary creativity in the open communal dining space. Expect dishes such as hay-flamed salmon, ember cooked beef and sour cream sorbet…
Niklas EkstedtLooking forward, future Family Style one-offs will include appearances from:
Jerusalem’s Yossi “Papi” Elad
Granddaddy of modern Israeli who helped launch The Palomar in London
Copenhagen’s Rosio Sanchez
Owner of Nordic taco emporia Hija de Sanchez and onetime Noma queenpin
London’s (via Lyon) Claude Bosi
Recently of the iconic Bibendum where he’s aiming to top the two Michelin stars he held at Hibiscus
The idea for Family Style came from a conversation over an Ari Gold between two Joe’s: restaurant writer and event organiser Joe Warwick, and Patty&Bun owner Joe Grossmann. The idea was about getting great chefs out of their own kitchens and into P&B to do something fun and informal that was all about a shared table and shared dishes.
Joe GrossmannOwner Joe Grossmann says: “Truly buzzing and pumped to launch ‘family style’! It’s been a long time in the making, off the back of some of the great ‘residence’ chef nights we did last year and conversations with the like-minded curly hair Mr Warwick! The essence of the nights is all in the name – ‘family style’ – an evening of communal and convivial vibes with amazing food and great characters… We just wanted to create one off super unique and special nights with incredible chefs to really let loose a little and express themselves in a different space to their restaurants. The line-up is unreal and super diverse, so expect something different every time … With Niklas kicking off procedures we couldn’t be more excited to launch !!!”
Joe Warwick says: “I’m really looking forward to the Family Style nights, to getting these great chefs out of their kitchens and having some fun with them. I love the idea of sharing food at a shared table, of getting stuck in and making some new friends, it’s a great way to eat, drink and be merry. This is going to be a great night out, a social experience that will hopefully go beyond the great food and drink on offer. I’m also very excited with the line-up of chefs we have confirmed for the first four events.”
