Leading independent foodservice brand Country Range has improved the flavour in its authentic range of ready-to-use world sauces with the addition of freshly frozen herbs, while also reducing the amount of salt, sugar and fat.
Already strong performers for the brand and popular with chefs looking for maximum flavour with minimum fuss, the versatile RTU world sauces are available in 2.2kg tubs in cases of two and are now even better tasting due to the recipe reformulation.
After countless hours in the test kitchen, the recipes have also been re-worked to ensure that the salt, sugar and fat levels are in line with new government guidelines, making them perfect for busy pubs, bars, cafés and hotels looking to give their menu a healthier edge.
The 13-strong selection of sauces is made up of six Indian curry house favourites (Balti, Jalfrezi, Korma, Madras, Rogan Josh and Tikka Masala), two Italian classics (Bolognese, Tomato & Basil) a Mexican/American must (Chilli Con Carne,) and two Oriental options (Sweet & Sour and Sweet & Sour with Vegetables). The range also includes a flavour-packed Mild Salsa and a chunky Burger Relish.
Martin Ward, Country Range Group Trading Director, said:
With consumers becoming more discerning when it comes to food and the risks of high sugar and salt consumption continuing to see focus, we’re delighted to relaunch this incredibly popular range lower in salt, sugar and fat without compromising on taste. The addition of the freshly frozen herbs has really lifted the sauces to a new level so we’re confident they will continue to be a key product and store cupboard essential for busy, time-poor chefs and kitchen who demand taste quality.”
Paul Dickson, Country Range Development Chef continues:
The changes made to the sauces have been incredibly positive, not just as far as the nutritional stats but to taste and versatility. The sauces are not just one trick ponies and with a bit of creativity can play a key role in different parts of the menu. For example, using some Country Range Korma Sauce, Coconut Milk, Veg Bouillon and chargrilled Cauliflower, I quickly created a sumptuous soup that has bags of flavour and personality. It highlights how using the sauces with just a few simple ingredients and spices, can prove a winner amongst consumers and the bottom line.”
