Scottish five-star resort, Cameron House, has partnered with Colin Prior, one of the world’s most respected landscape photographers, to showcase some of his most iconic photographs of Scotland.
The exhibition features 12 photographs from around Scotland, including three of Loch Lomond where Cameron House is situated. Located in the Great Scots Bar, the showcase will run from 22 February until May 2017.
The exhibition is part of the hotel’s refurbishment plans which has seen a total of £4m invested in upgrading the hotel. Phase two of the refurbishment, due to be completed in May 2017, is creating a brand new outdoor terrace which will showcase the unique and stunning panoramic views from the hotel, across Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park.
Andy Roger, Resort Director said: “We have one of the most stunning views on our doorsteps, so it seemed only fitting to work with Colin Prior who is renowned for his stunning photography of Scotland’s landscapes. What better way to replace the view for the next two months while our refurbishment is underway.”
The Exhibition is called “Quinuituq”, which means ‘deep patience’ and literally means the long waiting in preparation for a sudden event. This reflects the time and patience it takes for Colin to capture his photographs which range from Glen Coe to Loch Lomond National Park to Harris.
Colin Prior, photographer, commenting on the exhibition said: “Great photographs of the outdoors seldom happen by accident. They are the result of personal observation over a long period of time in which I have familiarised myself with a particular area and begin to understand its rhythms and nuances. The skill is in knowing where to place yourself to take advantage of a moment that has yet to develop – it’s like hunting with a camera.
“Being on the banks of Loch Lomond, Cameron House is set in a stunning location, so it’s the ideal place to show off my photography.”
Following the exhibition, Cameron House will give away one of the photographs via a competition across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. As a celebration of Scotland’s stunning landscapes, entrants will be asked to submit their best landscape pictures from across Scotland and share them with Cameron House using the hashtag #CHlandscapes. Colin Prior will pick the winning entry once the competition has closed on Friday 30 April.
