A McDonald’s manager has been jailed for pulling down a woman’s pants and exposing her bottom in the restaurant he was ‘managing’ (we use the term in the loosest possible sense) in front of customers. Twenty six year old Stuart Hubbard, the manager of a Nottingham McDonald’s branch, wrenched down the tracksuit bottoms of the poor woman in front of twelve customers and five members of staff.
Hubbard pleaded guilty to common assault following the incident on February 18 and was jailed for 28 days by Judge Stuart Rafferty. Hubbard was also ordered to pay his victim £500 in compensation for having to endure the humiliating ordeal after saying he did it ‘for a joke’.
Sentencing Hubbard the judge told him: ‘You pulled down her baggy tracksuit bottoms and exposed what is a private part of the body to twelve customers and five members of staff. The judge then additionally criticised the ‘lax response’ of the McDonald’s restaurant who did not immediately investigate the incident. Given Hubbard was the manager at the time little wonder, but it does beg the question what did head office do about it. Apparently they only moved to investigate when one appalled customer who witnessed the incident wrote in to them to complain.
Following the judge’s criticism and after the case was closed, a McDonald’s spokesman said: ‘We regret that anyone feels we were slow to respond to this matter, which was inappropriate and unacceptable. As soon as we were made aware of the incident he was immediately suspended while we carried out a thorough investigation.’
McDonald’s have moved Hubbard to another branch and placed him on a final warning.
We do not know which branch and much as many of the team at H&C News enjoy the occasional McDonald’s, we probably won’t risk going to any branch soon just in case he’s been moved there.
