Award winning Chef Adam Handling’s first solo venture, The Frog E1, has undergone a refurbishment rebuilding the outside terrace, expanding the space within the Spitalfields restaurant and transforming the former terrace into a beautiful dining space.
The new terrace brings the outside indoors just in time for autumn with relaxing swinging seats, hops hanging from the ceiling, and extra dining space for guests. The terrace has become an extension of The Frog E1 aesthetic: relaxed; comfortable; and urban.
The Frog E1 opened in June 2016 within Ely’s Yard making room for up to 60 covers. The relaxed environment in which Adam’s distinctive cooking style – combining technical savvy with the best possible produce, and a lightly theatrical touch – offers lunch and dinner Tuesday to Saturday, has been a huge success. The new Hops Garden caters for an extra 50 covers bringing the total to 110 covers.
“Before the restaurant even opened we had a 2 week waiting list and as soon as we opened the doors it went up to a month’s waiting list. With this kind of demand we knew we wanted to make some more space for our guests” says Adam.
Having a full restaurant within the first three months of opening is an achievement in itself and Adam is still only 28 years old. Adam continues to innovate and create at The Frog E1 and is excited to welcome even more diners to experience his signature dishes such as the Cheese Doughnuts and selection of curated cocktails and in-house made Kombucha.
As the restaurant goes from strength to strength, Adam is still conscious that The Frog E1 engages with the local East London community by offering a platform for young creatives: showcasing local artists; up and coming DJs; young wine-makers and food producers; as well as a future programme of guest chefs to provide an ever-changing canvas for the best of their ideas and experiences.
