New delicatessen Cure + Cut officially opened this week on Monmouth Street on Seven Dials. A welcome addition to Covent Garden’s casual dining scene, from the culinary minds of Jerome Armit and Chef Rufus Wickham (former Head Chef of Sam’s Brasserie and Kettner’s), Cure + Cut delivers authentic deli favourites.
Open daily from 8am to 9pm to eat in or take out, the focus is on premium ingredients and exquisite flavour, from house-salted rubbed, smoked and sliced meats to fresh salads and homemade bakery items.
Cure + Cut’s baked goods include muffins filled with fig and honey, peaches & cream or coffee banana & hazelnut, displayed on a counter alongside double butter croissants and the soon to be famous, signature smoked bacon cinnamon roll; and smoked belly bacon , Clarence Court egg & Swiss cheese muffins.
At lunch, cuts such as the home smoked, pepper-cured Longhorn pastrami, teamed with pickles & Tewkesbury mustard on soft white rye, are signature sandwiches which prove life is better between two slices of bread. Smoked salmon and Croxton Manor cream cheese gain new meaning with Cure + Cut’s oven-fresh bagels.
Seasonal fresh salads include kale, romaine and broccoli Caesar; roast aubergine dressed in tahini, toasted sesame seeds, pomegranate, hibiscus flowers and basil; roast heritage beetroot with charred cauliflower, toasted pistachios, Nocerella green olives, parsley and crème fraiche; and green papaya, daikon, shaved coconut, chilli & coriander. Top with hot smoked salmon, pastrami, hot smoked chicken, toasted seeds, raw flaxseed and dill crackers or beetroot crisps for added excitement.
Three classic desserts also sit on the counter – tiramisu, key lime pie and blueberry cheesecake, washed down with a range of homemade weekly-changing cordials, craft beers and freshly pressed juices.
Split across two floors with space for up to 30 guests, Cure + Cut has counter seating at street level and a handful of tables in an intimate basement. Grab and go customers can ponder lunch choices while taking in the colourful display of daily specials at the glass counter, where hot pastrami is freshly sliced throughout the day.
