A competition has been launched to create an adventurous new generation of bourbon cocktails. Cellar Trends is inviting bartenders to enter the Rebel Yell bourbon competition this Summer and celebrate the brand’s relaunch in the UK with a whole new modern, streamlined look and attitude.
The challenge is to create a premium cocktail with a rebel spirit that dares to take a fresh look away from typical mainstream bourbon and dark spirits cocktails. The winning bartender will be rewarded with a VIP-hosted trip to the Kentucky Bourbon Festival by the Rebel Yell US brand owners and Cellar Trends. In this landmark 25th year, the festival is supported by Rebel Yell and takes place 13-18 September. Runners-up will receive a bottle from the Rebel Yell limited edition series which is not sold in the UK.
For this first year of the competition, bartenders across London will compete in several heats, leading to the grand final shake-down on 22 August. Information will be available from the Cellar Trends stand at Imbibe Live show, 4-5 July, and bartenders should also subscribe to the ‘Band of Rebels’ community here.
Caroline Pihoue, brand manager for Rebel Yell at Cellar Trends, explains how it stands out as the bourbon that inspires and empowers the confidence to blaze your own trail: “The new competition encourages bartenders to break from convention and by-pass the norm of classic whisky mixes. We very much look forward to judging some adventurous creations based on either Rebel Yell Small Batch Rye or Kentucky Straight Bourbon. Judges will look for cocktails with attitude and soul; cocktails that will really appeal to bourbon lovers seeking a whole new taste experience.”
