Create Developments has today been granted full planning permission, to begin the redevelopment of the vacant site bound by Rochdale Road and Sharp Street, Manchester, with a 221 bedroom Hampton by Hilton hotel.
The site, strategically located adjacent to the New Cross Neighborhood Development Framework and the NOMA regeneration plan will be the first Hampton by Hilton hotel for Manchester, with construction commencing in November 2016 and upon completion creating approximately 40 jobs within the hotel.
The proposed £30M development, designed by Tim Groom Architects, Manchester, has been designed with the environment in mind and boasts a contemporary façade sympathetic to the surrounding buildings and has low carbon emissions and low energy demands.
Commenting on the proposed scheme, Paul Mathison, Create Developments’ Managing Director said, “Manchester has undergone considerable regeneration over the last 10 years and there is a recognised requirement for high quality international hotel brands in the City Centre. We believe that our development will significantly enhance the quality and appearance of this area, of one of the city’s key access corridors, by redeveloping this long standing derelict site.”
Tim Groom, Managing Director of Tim Groom architects said, “It is a testament to Manchester’s ambition and commitment to regeneration that a brand like Hilton wants to come forward and commit to this part of the City. We have designed a building that draws on the history and context of this part of Manchester and expresses the industrial heritage of the City, through fenestration pattern and architectural detail, providing a building that will contribute to further regeneration on the Rochdale Road corridor. This area of the City is undergoing a huge transformation and it’s great to be a part of it.”
