One of Bristol’s leading four-star hotels has seen a rise in the number of people booking a room for day time use only.
The trend which allows guests to book a room from 11am through to around 6pm is becoming increasingly popular especially for business travellers looking to get some rest while on the road, those who work nights or those who need a place for interviews or meetings.
And the chance to use a room to freshen up without having to pay a full day’s rate has now caught the imagination of those visiting the capital of the West Country.
With Bristol attracting an increasing number of international travellers, the trend to provide a day time stay is something bosses at DoubleTree by Hilton, Bristol City Centre are expecting to increase.
John Dowling, general manager at the Redcliffe Way-based hotel said: “We’re in the business of selling rooms but during the day they are usually empty.
“Making rooms available during this time means those who want to rest for a few hours, can check in, relax and recharge the batteries before they have to get going again.
“Our main assets are our rooms, so to maximise the return on the space makes good business sense. For the customer, they benefit not only by getting some rest but by saving in the region of 50 per cent off the usual tariff.
“With connectivity to London improving we see this trend increasing and although most of us work what would be described as a normal working day, there are many who work during the night.
“Not only is the hotel close to Temple Meads but also on the bus route to Bristol Airport, so those coming from further afield are also able to take advantage of our day sleeper rate.
“Catering for their needs is therefore important and Bristol has to be seen to provide the facilities and service people demand if it wants to compete with other cities in the UK as well as Europe.”
