A North West hotel group has picked up another hospitality and tourism accolade, just a few weeks after winning an award for its values and approach to innovation.
The Lake District’s only four-star town house hotel, Waterhead Boutique Hotel and Dining in Ambleside, has emerged as the winner of ‘Large Hotel of the Year’ at the Cumbria Tourism awards.
The hotel, which is run by English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues, won the highest praise for offering impeccable standards of accommodation and service in the category for hotels with over 35 bedrooms.
Shortlisting panels whittled the category finalists down to three contenders, with each then undergoing mystery shopping tests and visits from independent judges before the winners were chosen.
Waterhead general manager Matt Stanaway says: “It’s great news to win this award and I think it’s fair to say it reflects our drive to instil in our whole team a culture to be creative and excel in customer service, not only with our guests, but also suppliers and the local community.
“This is a great reward for all the hard work the Waterhead team puts in around the clock throughout the working year. We need to ensure that the hotel keeps this up and maintains its reputation as a well-run, successful and highly valued place for Lake District visitors to come and stay.”
English Lakes Hotels Resorts & Venues recently picked up the prestigious ‘Hotel and Leisure Family Business of the year’ award at the Family Business United awards in London at the beginning of June.
The awards showcase the best of British family firms, and those who seek to use their family nature and values to build successful businesses and become ambassadors for their sector.
Now in their 14th year, the Cumbria Tourism Awards celebrate the best Cumbria has to offer, with the majority of category winners going on to represent the county at the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in 2017.
