The opening of Ahi Poké brings the world’s coolest food trend to Fitzrovia. Hailed as the new, new sushi, poké: a Hawaiian raw fish dish, will be served at the casual all-day restaurant located on Percy Street.
The new 25-cover restaurant is inspired by simple Hawaiian beach shacks crossed with the laid-back poké bar vibes of L.A, where Jeremy Coste, Gabriel Cohen-Elia and David Bellaiche, the team behind Mayfair’s North Audley Cantine (NAC) and Chez Chow researched the concept.
Offering eat in, grab and go, and delivery, Ahi Poké brings poké bowls to the masses whilst embracing values on nutrition, sustainability and ‘clean eating’. Chef Jeremy Coste who was classically trained at Paul Bocuse’s Lyonnaise institution, has created a menu using sustainably sourced ingredients that draw on traditional poké flavours and methods. Resulting in a flavoursome dish that requires no cooking because, whilst every dish is freshly prepared to order – the ingredients are all raw, so retain their full nutritional qualities.
Choose from a selection of signature bowls created by the Ahi team including Oahu (sticky rice, Ahi tuna, red onion, radish, coriander and sesame shoyu) and Heat Wave (quinoa, salmon, avocado, kimchee cucumber, red onion and siracha mayo) priced at £9.45 and £8.95 respectively, amongst others. Or build your own bowl by selecting a base (quinoa, sticky rice, or red kale); a protein (ahi tuna, the fish classically used in poké; mahi mahi or salmon, all sourced from socially responsible fisheries; or marinated mushrooms); a sauce (sesame shoyu, sweet ponzu, preserved lemon olive oil or siracha mayo); and toppings. Soft drinks will be available in the form of homemade iced teas, specialist non-alcoholic beverages imported from the USA and there will also be a soft-serve ice cream machine.
The interior is designed with reclaimed materials in tribute to the beach environment, such as reused wood and driftwood among the bright white and nautical blue and azul hues with inside and outside seating. Bright, spacious, and calming just like the Big Sur!
