Leading UK and Ireland hotel investment and hospitality group, Amaris Hospitality, has announced the appointment of Donal Rooney as its new CFO.
Rooney joins Amaris Hospitality from the National Asset Management Agency (“NAMA”) where he was Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for finance, operations, systems, treasury, tax, corporate change, audit and risk. Prior to joining NAMA, he worked for Arthur Andersen and subsequently KPMG where he was a Director in its audit and advisory division.
Rooney is a graduate of University College Dublin and will be taking up his new position in September 2016.
The new appointment follows the announcement in February by Cormac Ó Tighearnaigh of his intention to step down as CFO and Deputy CEO of Amaris Hospitality to pursue new career opportunities once his replacement has been recruited and the role has been successfully transitioned. Cormac was previously the CFO of Jurys Inn Group, which was incorporated into Amaris Hospitality. He was appointed CFO and Deputy CEO of Amaris Hospitality on its creation and led the successful integration of the four separate hotel portfolios comprising the group.
Commenting on the appointment, John Brennan, CEO, Amaris Hospitality, said:
“I am delighted to welcome Donal to the Amaris Hospitality leadership team where his extensive financial experience and strong commercial acumen will help us deliver our ambitious and exciting plans for the business.
Separately, I want to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Cormac Ó Tighearnaigh for his outstanding contribution over his ten years with the business and we wish him every success with his future plans.”
