Geronimo Inns will launch two new London pubs in February, in Woolwich and in Whitechapel, with a combined investment of £3.3m.
Leman Street Tavern, Whitechapel
Leman Street Tavern, situated at Berkeley Homes’ Goodman Fields on Leman Street, Whitechapel will open today, 5th February. Comprising a 5,000 square foot pub following a project spend of £1.5M, the pub will hold 191 covers across five areas – The Chambers private dining room, The Snug, The Lounge Bar, The Back Bar and The Pass.
Exposed concrete ceilings and pipework and large feature chandeliers are complemented with reclaimed flooring and comfy sofas, creating a contemporary feel. Signature dishes will include slow roasted quarter shoulder of lamb, ox cheek and bone marrow pie and Dingley Dell pork faggot. The drinks list will feature a wide selection of craft beers and premium ales and bitters on tap, a varied wine list and cocktails with a focus on bourbon, whiskey and rum. A wine display holds over 200 bottles.
The Guard House, Woolwich
Situated in the old Guard House building, dating back to 1787-88, at the Royal Arsenal Riverside in Woolwich, The Guard House will open on 12th February. Part of the Berkeley Homes’ redevelopment, this 5,060 square foot pub and dining room will have a capacity for 220 people across four different areas: The Mess, The Glass House, The Deli and The Dining Room. A £1.8M undertaking, the new pub is part of the wider Royal Arsenal regeneration – the largest project of its kind in Europe, already 15 years into a 30-year term.
The Guard House will have a casual bistro feel with all-day kitchen and will include communal tables and banquette seating as well as smaller tables for two and bar stools.The pub will serve traditional, hearty food, including signature dishes of guinea fowl Kiev, pie, mash and liquor and rice pudding with raspberry jam.Gin cocktails will have prominence on the drinks menu with a wide selection of bitters, ales and an expansive wine list.
