Italy-fixated foodies in the capital will now be able to sample the “buon gusto” of the country’s finest cuisine both home and away with the opening of Capricci.
Capricci is a new concept combining the scintillating sights and sounds and authentic aromas of a traditional Italian marketplace with the simple elegance and invigorating indulgence of a classic kitchen menu. Already established in Italy, with a thumbs-up from the understandably hard-to-please locals, Capricci has now set opened its first London site. The very best produce that Italy has to offer finds a new UK home in theStirling Prize nominated RIBA Award winning Neo Bankside development by Rogers Stirk Harbour opposite Herzog & de Meuron’s extension to the Tate Modern.
Best elements of the Italian food experience – under one roof
What really makes Capricci stand out is its ability to combine all of the best elements of the Italian food experience under one roof. From being served a hearty meal from a homely kitchen, to picking up the finest ingredients and taking them back to your own kitchen. “Try before you buy” has been the secret recipe behind many a successful shopping trip, and Capricci don’t see why food shopping should be any different. You are invited to begin a journey from tasting to shopping, with samples available from some of Italy’s most renowned and celebrated producers and presented in a selection of small dishes, breakfast, lunch and aperitivo… With anything that particularly tickles your fancy available for you to pick up off the shelves.
Capricci could be the moveable feast you’re looking for: it stocks a range of more than 500 Italian treats and delicacies. A unique selection of distinctive durum wheat pasta from the regions of Apulia and Marche. Artichokes from Campania and porcini mushrooms from Calabria, both preserved in rich and delicious Extra Virgin olive oil. An elegant range of Capricci’s very own preserved Italian vegetables, and some of the very finest olive oils in the whole world from Lake Garda. An abundance of savoury Italian classics such as handmade Grissini bread sticks and Piedmont truffles (The King of the Italian Table!), as well as delicious preserved fish from artisan producers in Sicily and Sardinia, and not forgetting the legendary cured meats that come from the regions around Parma. Delicious cheeses from Romagna, a hard-to-choose from selection of chocolate from Tuscany, biscuits made in Venice exclusively for Capricci and a whole range devoted to Italian speciality nougat.
