Vacherin’s Anthony Kingsley has won the Sustainability Leader Award at the prestigious edie.net Sustainability Leaders Awards 2015. His victory was the only one for the catering industry in an event that also recognised nationally famous businesses including Heathrow, Tesco and National Grid.
In winning his award Anthony developed more sustainable foodservice for Vacherin that is delicious, healthy, and sustainable. Anthony has worked to educate staff to make more sustainable purchasing choices. He has worked to expand Vacherin’s Red Meat Free Mondays Initiative which has reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 65 tonnes annually.
Anthony has helped to increase purchasing of Fairtrade products like sugar, coffee, chocolate and teas. This helped Vacherin receive the highest 3-star rating from the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA). Anthony has also completed SRA assessments for 5 individual sites.
