Cambridge Street Café will open on 24th August within the Artist Residence, a 10-bedroom hotel, founded by Charlie Newey and Justin Salisbury. Located at 52 Cambridge Street Pimlico, the café will serve breakfast through to dinner, serving wholesome dishes with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal produce.
Residing within the Pimlico grid and conservation area, the building dates back to 1852, originally an old public house designed by Thomas Cubitt. Cambridge Street Café will be open to hotel guests and visitors alike, providing a hub for the neighbourhood.
Menu
The menu, designed by Head Chef, Radek Nitkowski, previously of Dean Street Townhouse will begin with breakfast from 7.30am.
For a classic start to the day there will be Eggs Benedict (£9); Banana Pancakes with crispy smoked bacon & maple syrup (£9); and virtuous Quinoa with peach, goji berries, mint & yoghurt (£7.50). A long, marble-topped bar will set the scene for the day, laid with fresh Millers Bakery pastries and daily newspapers. Allpress coffee and Flint & Co. teas will be served to go as well as a selection of cold-pressed juices and smoothies, stored on ice in a Belfast sink with a vintage Singer base.
Come midday, pastries will be replaced with a changing selection of all day dishes: Sausage Rolls, Scotch Eggs, open sandwiches including the Open Reuben Sandwich; salt beef with sauerkraut and chilli on rye (£9) and salads such as Burratina; heritage tomato, balsamic & basil (£8). Heartier mains will include an Aged Rib Eye with béarnaise & watercress (£19) or Soft Shell Crab Burger with kale, radish & lime mayo (£16).
Dinner will commence at 5pm, with starters such as Beetroot Salad with goat’s curd, cucumber & orange dressing (£7) or Scallops with black pudding & apple sauce (£8.50) followed by mains such as Mussels with shallots, fennel & cream (£16) or Pan Fried Sea Bass with fregola & coriander (£18).
Max Curzon-Price from The Cocktail Shack at Artist Residence Brighton has designed a concise cocktail list, which includes classics such as Aperol Spritz, Martini and a Kir Royale. A short, mostly French wine list will make the perfect foil to the dishes, with many available by the glass and carafe.
