Alberto Cecchella joins the team at Casa Malevo, Zoilo and Abasto as Group Head Chef, working closely with Diego Jacquet to recreate the varied flavours of Argentina, here in London.
Italian-born Cecchella gained his passion for food whilst learning at his grandmother’s knee. Having initially trained in his hometown of Belluno in Italy, Cecchella moved to London in 2010, where he first met Diego. After an eighteen month stint at Casa Malevo and then Zoilo, Cecchella went on to spend six months in Mexico – exploring the varied flavours of the country – before joining Restaurante Martin Berasategui for a four-month stage.
Diego Jacquet founded Malevo Group when he established Zoilo Catering in 2007, with the aim to showcase the best of Argentine food and wine in the UK. Diego then opened his first London restaurant, Casa Malevo, in 2010, and Zoilo in 2012. Before founding Malevo Group, Jacquet worked at a string of world-renowned restaurants including el Bulli in Spain and Aquavit in New York.
