The International Convention Centre (ICC), Birmingham has further strengthened its catering team with the appointment of Claire Smith as Conference & Banqueting Manager, Ceri Davies and Stephen Penn, Harprit Singh Kainth as Conference & Banqueting Supervisors, and Robert May as Food & Beverage Manager for Amadeus at the ICC.
The ICC is recognised as an industry leader in conference and banqueting catering due to its extensive experience and determination to push boundaries and pioneer restaurant quality food on a large scale in an event environment. In order to ensure that these standards are maintained and improved it is essential that there is a strong management team in place alongside the venue’s talented chefs.
Claire Smith, Conference & Banqueting Manager, has been part of the hospitality industry for many years having worked in hotels, bars and restaurants around the world gaining experience across a range of disciplines. Prior to joining Amadeus at the ICC, Claire worked at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole in event operations.
Ceri Davies, Conference & Banqueting Supervisor, previously worked for Amadeus at the Library of Birmingham as Team Leader and at the Genting Arena (formerly the LG Arena) helping to run the main public bar. Ceri’s excellent customer service skills have been recognised during this time and are seen as a key strength.
Stephen Penn, Conference & Banqueting Supervisor studied Event Management at University College Birmingham whilst working his way up the ranks at Revolution Bar to Sales & Events Assistant, before joining Amadeus at the ICC.
Harprit Singh Kainth, Conference & Banqueting Supervisor, previously spent eight years at the prestigious Collections Hotel in Birmingham and will use his experience to drive excellence in all areas of catering for Amadeus at the ICC.
Robert May, Food and Beverage Manager has worked at the ICC since 2010 and was previously Conference & Banqueting Manager.
Martin Davies, General Manager for Amadeus at the ICC is delighted with the new appointments, he says: “Strengthening our catering team will not only ensure that we deliver consistently high standards at the ICC and continue to push boundaries here, but it will also stand us in good stead for the opening of the new Vox Conference Centre at Resorts World Birmingham later this year – a new offering to the market that will be managed by the experienced team at the ICC.”
