This year’s BrewDog Prototype Challenge sees a series of four new beers, and BrewDog inviting the public to choose which should feature alongside its Headliner range. Previously featuring favourites like Jackhammer, Cocoa Psycho and Brixton Porter, the Prototypes can become superstar brews almost overnight.
This year’s selection features ‘a kickass gluten-free pale (pictured above), an amped-up easy-drinking mild, a new take on an IPA, and a modern-day retro altbier’.
The Vagabond Pale Ale could demonstrate the rise of gluten-free beers – if enough votes support it! – and is described as:
“Vagabond is something brand new for BrewDog – our first gluten-free beer. Brews for people who turn away from gluten have often had very little else to offer other than mere acceptability. Vagabond however shows, once and for all, that a lack of this one element does not equate to a lack of taste, or body. Brewed at 4.5% abv but with an IBU-count that would gratify an IPA (see below), Vagabond has a rioting backdrop of citrus from the Centennial and Amarillo, and could be (if selected) a ground-breaking gluten-free brew.”
