Anthony Pender has been selected as the next Chairman of the BII.
He is founder and managing director at the five-strong Yummy Pub Company and is vice chairman of the Perceptions Group, the award-winning initiative to promote the pub sector as a career option. He has worked at Yummy Pub Company for seven years and previously worked as free trade sales manager at Carlsberg.
Pender was selected amongst a highly competitive line-up for the position as the new leader for the BII and it will be his role to oversee the next exciting stage of its strategic development.
Anthony Pender said: “I am delighted to be taking up this crucial role at the BII. My focus will be to uphold the values of the BII, grow the membership and support the individuals within the organisation.”
His selection has been ratified by the trustees and he will be introduced to the Board on Wednesday, 26th November. He will be formally appointed at the AGM in June and will work alongside interim chairman Tom Richardson, until then.
Ambitious plans
Together with Chief Executive Tim Hulme, Pender will be responsible for implementing the organisation’s ambitious plans to drive growth and to re-establish its position as the leading membership and qualifications awarding organisation in the licensed retail sector.
