Wahaca, the award winning Mexican street food restaurant launched by Thomasina Miers and Mark Selby, is introducing a new breakfast menu inspired by fresh British produce and the vibrant flavours of Mexican cuisine.
The perfect wake-up call
Coinciding with the opening of Wahaca Great Portland Street on 11 September the menu will be served at the new site from 7:30 am on weekdays and 9:00 am on weekends. In keeping with Wahaca tradition, dishes will be filled with bold flavours and wholesome ingredients, providing the perfect wake up call for the bustling district. In Mexico, the saying goes ‘never do business without food’ and in honour of this Mexican custom the Wahaca team have devised a unique menu for spicing-up early morning meetings and awakening city-dwellers to the invigorating flavours of Mexico.
Breakfast menu
Available all week, the breakfast menu will offer three varieties of Mexican Baked Eggs; with a choice of Roast tomato and chipotle, Tomatillo crème fraiche or Refried beans with chargrilled British Chorizo (all priced at £6) alongside buttery sourdough toast. The hearty Mexican favourite, Huevos Rancheros Divorciados (£6) Pictured top) will also be on the menu, a vibrant plate of fried eggs atop blue corn tortillas with both roast tomato and green tomatillo salsa. Other dishes ideal for soaking up last night’s Mezcal cocktails will include Breakfast Baps, a crusty roll stuffed with a choice of Smoked salmon with tomatillo crème fraiche and avocado or Bacon and a fried egg with a chipotle ketchup made especially for Wahaca by Stokes Sauces (£6) and using sourdough baked by Artisan Brixton bakery, Bread Bread.
For a lighter start to the day, diners can enjoy Granola (£3) served with a choice of fruit compote or a dash of agave, Porridge with fresh blueberries (£4), or homemade Banana bread studded with dark chocolate and walnuts (£1.50). A menu of fresh juices and smoothies will also be available including dairy-free options such as the Almond milk smoothie; a blend of almonds, chia, banana and dates (£2.95) and Wahaca’s Avocado Smoothie (£2.95) made with apples, agave and creamy avocado – a wholesome concoction originally made by Wahaca’s chefs to set them up for a day in the kitchen.
From midday, Wahaca’s signature Mexican street food menu will be available.
Wahaca’s new breakfast menu will also be served at its Fitzrovia restaurant on Charlotte Street.
