Edwardian Group London has announced traineeships for over 16s to give them an insight into the hotel and hospitality industry, as well as an opportunity to see if they would like to build a future career within it.
FUTURE YOU programme
The FUTURE YOU programme, starting on 1 September 2014, lasts 12 weeks, with 18 days’ classroom learning at Edwardian Group London’s in-house training school the ED.G.E (based at New Providence Wharf in London).
The theory practice will be supported by 42 days’ work placement at a Radisson Blu Edwardian property. This will be supported by a tutor each week via meetings with the trainee and their manager.
Working in partnership with training provider Lifetime Training, the course will give students valuable ‘hands-on’ experience across kitchen, housekeeping, reception and front house, as well as food and beverage.
On completion of the programme, all trainees will be interviewed and, if successful, offered a full time role in the department of their choice, as well as enrolment onto the apprenticeship scheme working towards an NVQ qualification.
Providing core skills
Wendy Menking, Group Human Resources Director at Edwardian Group London says,
“At Edwardian Group London, we are absolutely committed to offering young people the chance to see if our industry is right for them. We hope that for many it will be, as EGL is a great place in which people can build their careers. However, FUTURE YOU will also give students some vital core skills – such as how to interact with other people and present themselves well.”
All students who complete and pass the FUTURE YOU course will receive industry qualifications to ensure they have the best foundation from which to build a career in the services industry.
