Macdonald Holyrood Hotel in the heart of Edinburgh has unveiled the first phase of a significant bedroom refurbishment as part of a wider rejuvenation of the city hotel that is also part of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, winners of AA Hotel Group of the Year 2013/14.
Bedrooms redesigned
With 91 bedrooms set to benefit from a design transformation, the first raft of executive bedrooms on the 5th and 6th floors have recently been unveiled. This has seen 34 rooms undergo a full redesign, with the addition of new Choice Sofa furniture upholstered with Kobe and Osborne and Little Fabric, additional soft furnishings and Fox Linton curtains, Mattisons beds and stunning Porcelanosa bathrooms complete with walk in drench showers.
The bedroom refurbishments will be complemented by the transformation of the library to create a new executive lounge for exclusive use by guests on the 6th floor, with services including free WiFi and space to entertain and / or to conduct discrete business meetings.
Richard Mayne, recently appointed Regional Managing Director at Macdonald Holyrood Hotel commented: “With this latest investment we now have the people and product firmly in place to establish Macdonald Holyrood Hotel as one of the leading hotels in Edinburgh.”
“Work is already underway on the next phases of the development. Our leisure club has also been refurbished with £120,000 invested in the spa and changing areas”.
Rocca@Holyrood flourishes
This latest transformation comes just a few months since the launch of Rocca@Holyrood in December. A £600,000 investment saw Macdonald Holyrood Hotel open this stylish brasserie style dining experience with leading restaranteurs Adrian and Susan Peircinni at the helm. This investment also saw the 200 capacity Salisbury and Holyrood Suites stylishly reappointed.
Commenting on the launch, Mayne added: “Rocca has been very well received since opening in early December. We’ve more than doubled our sleeper / diner ratio meaning guests are actively choosing to dine with us while we are noticing many local residents coming into the restaurant too.
“Throughout January and February we served over 1,000 more covers in the restaurant in comparison with the same period in 2013. With Holyrood on our doorstep we have also received numerous enquiries from parliament secretaries with a view to hosting ministerial engagements.”
