Green’s Beers Director, David Ware was delighted to scoop not just one but two awards at the recent Free From Food Awards (FFFA) Tuesday 25 March. Green’s beers are certified suitable for Vegetarians & Coeliacs and this is fourth time in five years they have won a FFFA. H&C News comment
H&C News was not alone in ‘testing’ the Gluten Free Beers available at the FreeFrom Food Awards! And judging by the general approval – which we shared – of what we were tasting, it’s no surprise to learn that Gluten Free Beers are gradually being taken up by an ‘on trade’ which is increasingly aware of the sales opportunity they present.
Gluten free beers entering the mainstream
Green’s Director, David Ware commented : ‘We’re delighted to win the ‘Best Gluten Free Beer’ award this year with our new IPA beer made from Sorghum, which will launch in the UK in May. We’re especially proud to receive this additional award for growing the Gluten Free beer category over the last five years.
“It has always been our ambition to provide a choice of gluten free ales and lagers in the same way that traditional beer companies do. We believe that we’ve reached a tipping point in 2014 where gluten free beers will enter the mainstream. After all you can now order a complete Gluten Free meal in PizzaExpress and drink our beer there as well!
Catering for gluten intolerant customers…makes great business sense
“If a major high street chain is backing Gluten Free beer and food you know they’re doing so as they believe in catering for gluten intolerant customers & that it makes great business sense.
“We consider ourselves ‘The Original Gluten Free beer’ company as we launched our first craft beer in 2004 and now have a choice of nine Gluten Free and Vegetarian beers.
“We hope that now we’ve scooped these two prestigious awards this will help us convince even more trade clients that Gluten Free beer is not a trend or a fad – it’s here to stay!’
Gluten free beer tastes as good as normal beer
The rise in gluten free products and beers has been demonstrated time and time again in many worldwide surveys. In a recent Mintel survey 50% of 18-34 year olds questioned agreed they would drink gluten free beer if it tasted as good as normal beer. Which proves that there is a strong market for Green’s great tasting gluten free beers!
When will the award winning IPA sorghum Gluten Free beer be available in the UK?
Green’s are making some final tweaks to the packaging of this product and finalising logistics with their brewers. The planned launch date for the IPA is May – however Green’s encourage all fans or businesses interested in their beers to follow their Facebook page or Linkedin.
