Hyde Park in the centre of London is set to be transformed for ten days this July with a pioneering 10-day live outdoor event, which includes free access to the event site from Monday 8 July to Thursday 11 July 2013. There will not only be an extensive programme of concerts, comedy and more, the three themed areas will feature an array of eating and drinking options and experiences.
AEG Live together with The Royal Parks have announced three themed and specially designed areas, designed to offer visitors to Hyde Park the very best in culture, dining and entertainment during the Monday to Thursday of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde.
The three areas – The Village Green, the Piazza and the Carnival will bring an international feel to Hyde Park this summer with entertainment and activities for all ages, taking place from Monday 8 to Thursday 11 July.
Multi-million pound investment
The multi-million pound investments made by AEG Live for Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park will feature groundbreaking designs for the Great Oak Stage and movie set style-buildings and structures. Built from scratch in the UK, the structures will house diverse attractions including the Barclaycard Unwind Theatre, an outdoor cinema, the Bandstand, a Carnival Float Stage and multitude of bar and dining options.
Pioneering event for London
Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park will provide open access to the park and its array of live activities, some of which will be offered completely free of charge during the day from Monday to Thursday, with live events that are diverse and accessible to all. AEG Live is creating this unique environment and thus allowing each person to create their own journey and experience – to express their personality, preferences, and desires.
The Piazza
The Piazza will capture the flavour of a buzzing European square, serving up culinary delights from around the continent from renowned event food traders including Paellaria, Italian street food from Cooking Cooks, Pizza from Well Kneaded, a specialist bread maker, and a bar offering a selection of European beers, including Moretti, whiskey and wine, to name just a few.
The Village Green
Will recreate the look and atmosphere of a quintessentially British scene – providing a unique rural environment in the centre of the city. The Village Hall will host activities you would expect to find in a rural church hall – but with an urban twist. A Bandstand will be prominently positioned in The Village Green and will include a diverse musical programme.
Food and drink offered in this area will reflect the theme, with traditional English fare from independent food traders including The Pie Cart, Sausage Roll Sanctuary, Garlic Wood Farm and Roast of Sherwood, with a wide selection of beer, real ales, cider and English wines.
Carnival
Celebrating the spirit of Hispania, South America and the Caribbean will be Carnival. Flavours of these colourful regions will be represented in the culinary offerings – Empanadas from Borough Market’s famous ‘Portena’, Churros Garcia, Fresh Coconuts from The Coconut Kings, Burritos and Argentinean steaks, with speciality drinks such as Mojitos, Caipirinhas, Cuba Libres, and Sagres served from the aptly named Havana and Santa Clara bars.
Bocca Di Lupo
Award-winning Soho trattoria, Bocca Di Lupo, will be providing a unique al-fresco dining experience with pop-up restaurant Bocca Di Lupo In The Park.
Book exclusive dining packages during the week, as well as the two music weekends
Jim King, Festival Director, Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park, said: “Right from the very start, we wanted our event in Hyde Park to offer something for everyone. The multi-cultural diversity of the zones celebrates all that is great about London and added to this, opening the zones free to all during the week means we really are giving people a brand new event experience.”
