Alcohol consumption falling at sharpest rate since 1948

Alcohol consumption continues to fall, with 2009 the most significant year-on-year decline since 1948, according to fresh figures from the British Beer & Pub Association.

Last year’s 6% dip was the fourth annual decline in five years – 2007 was the anomaly.
