Nigel Mansell fuelled by Brakes

Brakes, the leading foodservice specialist, is fuelling the Nigel Mansell UK Youth Cycle Challenge 1,200 mile ride around Britain – with the supply of hearty and wholesome food and drink.

Kilograms of bread, pasta, cereal, fruit, health bars and fruit squash are being shipped to Cycle Challenge checkpoints across the country for consumption by the UK Youth team which includes; Magnus Backstedt, winner of a leg of the Tour de France and 2004 Paris-Roubaix; F1 driver Nigel Mansell; and Leo and Greg Mansell – Nigel’s two sons.

The sustenance will support the riders on their massive 1,200 mile cycle challenge around Britain in 13 days (22 July to 3 August) – which they intend to do without a days rest.

Added to this the team will also attend major events that are being organised around the country – by event sponsors and UK Youth’s network of youth local programmes and newly formed bike clubs.

The challenge was instigated by UK Youth President, Nigel Mansell OBE, who wanted to do something momentous to support the 100th year of the charity and the centenary of its campaign ‘Positive About Youth’, www.positiveaboutyouth.org – which challenges negative perceptions of young people.

James Armitage marketing director at Brakes said: “Brakes is dedicated  to supporting charities and their work within the communities we serve and operate in. We are so impressed – not only by this fundraising challenge – but by the every day work of UK Youth in supporting young people nationwide. “We hope that our tasty and wholesome food and drink will help to power their Cycle Challenge team around their grueling route.”
